The Community Channel are proud to support Pride 50, this campaign features a series of public artworks created by Martin Firrell.

1 July 2022 marked 50 years since the first Gay Pride march took place in Britain. To mark the anniversary Pride50 celebrates this with '5 Decades of Pride,' a series of public artworks created by Martin Firrell. The Community Channel is proud to support this campaign across billboards UK-wide for the month of July.

Martin Firrell is a highly regarded LGBT+ movement veteran, known for his provocative interventions in out of home spaces, that encourage public conversations about social values. He emphasises that he aims "to make the world more humane" through his artwork and his work has been summarised as 'art as debate.' Find out more about Martin here.

For this campaign, Martin invited LGBT+ networks and their allies to contribute what they felt were the most important issues facing the community in the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s and the 2010 and the results are illustrated on Out-of-Home digital billboards. Check out the results on our screens below!

Our Community Channel enables not-for-profit community and charitable projects to access digital Out-of-Home location. This initiative is yet another proof-point of Out-of-Home’s role as a ‘force for good’ in the community. Click here to find out more about the Community Channel.
