JCDecaux is proud to partner with City of Edinburgh Council to showcase twelve festive ‘Season’s Greetings’ cards designed by Edinburgh pupils on JCDecaux digital screens along Princes Street.

Twelve winning ‘Season’s Greetings’ designs by Edinburgh school pupils are bringing festive cheer to shoppers on Princes Street this weekend, as the seasonal artworks are displayed on digital bus shelter screens from Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 December.

Organised by the City of Edinburgh Council and JCDecaux, the competition offered a chance for children and young people to see their artwork displayed on JCDecaux bus shelters along Princes Street and for their design to be selected in the annual Season’s Greetings card contest.

On Thursday 4 December, a group of six of these winners, alongside families and teachers, joined representatives from JCDecaux as well as City of Edinburgh Council - including Lord Provost, Robert Aldridge and Cllr Dalgleish, Education, Children and Families Convenor - to unveil their designs at one of the bus shelters on Princes Street.

Now in its ninth year, the competition is open to learners across City of Edinburgh Council schools and this year encouraged children and young people to design and submit festive artwork on the theme of ‘Winter Wonders’.

Our annual Season's Greetings collaboration with the City of Edinburgh Council is a wonderful celebration of the talent and creativity of young artists in Edinburgh schools. We are delighted to showcase the winning artwork on digital bus shelter screens along Princes Street, bringing seasonal cheer to people out and about in Edinburgh.

It is the first year that I have had the chance in my role as Education, Children and Families Convenor to judge the entries in this annual competition, and I was blown away by the quality and detail of the designs sent in by learners. It was incredibly difficult to select our winning entries as the standard was incredibly high. A huge thank you to the teaching staff in our schools who have encouraged pupils to get involved in the competition, and well done to all those who have had their creative designs recognised.

Councillor James Dalgleish

Education, Children and Families Convenor

Once again, I am astounded by the standard of creativity from children and young people across the city. We received a staggering number of entries and it has been difficult to select winning designs. I hope that pupils, along with their families and teachers, enjoy seeing their creativity brighten up Princes Street this weekend, and I’m sure they’ll bring joy to all who see them.

Robert Aldridge

Lord Provost

The designs will be displayed on all the JCDecaux bus shelters along Princes Street on Thursday 4, Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December.
