The JCDecaux Community Channel is proud to support a powerful new billboard campaign from crisis support charity Hestia, raising awareness of Safe Spaces for victim-survivors of domestic abuse across the UK.
The campaign highlights the different forms domestic abuse can take and how risk can escalate gradually over time. Appearing on billboards and high streets in key cities including London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester, the creatives are designed to signpost people to somewhere safe to seek help.
The campaign is backed by high street banks and pharmacies, and aims to raise awareness of the thousands of designated Safe Spaces located in their branches for victim-survivors of domestic abuse. Safe Spaces are private rooms within participating locations, where anyone experiencing domestic abuse can access support without fear of being overheard or monitored.
Charities and police forces often report an increase in domestic abuse incidents over the winter months, when factors such as tensions around family gatherings can create conditions where abuse is more likely to occur. This makes it especially important that victim-survivors know where they can safely turn for help.
Patrick RyanWinter can be a particularly dangerous time for those experiencing domestic abuse. More time at home, financial pressures, and higher alcohol consumption can increase isolation and risk, while access to support services may be limited. That’s why Hestia is launching this campaign to promote Safe Spaces, places where anyone feeling unsafe can escape, and find the support they need. Everyone deserves to be safe; no one should suffer in silence.

The Safe Spaces scheme was originally launched by Hestia during the pandemic as part of its UK Says No More campaign. To use a Safe Space, a person can simply ask a member of staff in a participating bank or pharmacy for a Safe Space. They will then be shown to a private room equipped with a phone or tablet, providing a safe and discreet way to contact friends or family, reach specialist support services and begin their journey to recovery.
