Bus shelters for the well-dressed witch and wizard this Halloween
17 November 2009
Bus shelters nationwide have been given a spine-tingling transformation for Halloween, as Matalan unveils a creepy collection for the ultimate fright night out.In an advertising campaign booked with JCDecaux Innovate by Hyperspace, the innovations division at Posterscope, and Feather Brooksbank, spooky sonic bus shelters will emit the howling of wolves and the wind on shelters decorated with bats, cobwebs, spiders and even a motion sensitive skeleton puppet. Creative was by Pixelscene.
Part of a wider media campaign to promote Matalan as the retail destination this Halloween, the party products displayed in the fully-wrapped bus shelters in London, Manchester and Glasgow are available in-store. Matalan’s extensive Halloween costume collection this year includes zombies, punk-fairies, goth princesses, werewolves and zombie doctors - as well as pointed hats and capes for the more traditional trick-or-treater.
Richard Simkins, Senior Project Manager at Hyperspace said, “Outdoor advertising is the ideal medium for getting Matalan’s message out in front of shoppers. This campaign turns bus shelters into a virtual shop window for Matalan.”
A spokesperson for Matalan said, “This outdoor campaign will bring our M Party brand to life on the street, getting our consumers in the right mindset for their Halloween purchases and the party season ahead.”
The spooky bus shelter specials can be seen in Glasgow (Argyle Street), London (New Oxford Street, Euston Road, High Holborn), Manchester (Piccadilly Gardens, Cross Street and Parker Street).
In addition to a bus shelter and billboards campaign with JCDecaux, Matalan has booked banner sites in Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Belfast. Matalan will drive awareness and traffic in-store and online with a two week radio campaign, press inserts, email marketing and a micro site on the Matalan website. This is in addition to local marketing support and the sponsorship of the Freaky Family Fun Day at Aintree race course.
