David Rowe - From Sandwichboard to Billboards

David Rowe, the 24-year old unemployed graduate who pounded the streets as a human billboard advertising his availability for work has landed a job at JCDecaux, the UK’s leading outdoor advertising company. David has joined as Junior Sales Coordinator at JCDecaux, working in the team responsible for poster campaigns on Billboards, Street Furniture and StreetTalk. 

David’s sandwich board stunt generated headlines around the world, with over 250 enquiries from interested employers and caught the eye of Spencer Berwin, Managing Director - Sales at JCDecaux.  

Spencer Berwin said, “I was very impressed by David turning himself into a human billboard - he’s displayed a natural talent for outdoor advertising! His sales pitch showed enormous confidence and a determination to succeed that is highly attractive for any employer. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.” 

David Rowe said, “It’s a tough market for graduates and as I’ve found out, outdoor advertising definitely works! I was amazed by the response to my sandwichboard and when I got the offer from JCDecaux I knew immediately it was the right company for me. ” 

David, a University of Kent History graduate from Cambridge spent 5 days walking round London targeting media firms, investment-banks and law companies with a billboard round his neck saying, “Job Wanted”. He offered to work for the first month for free, challenging employers to hire him or fire him.
