Celebrating O2’s 4G switch on, O2 hosted a multi-platform launch gig by the award-winning artist Plan B on 29th August which was live-streamed to King’s Cross and Victoria Stations on JCDecaux’s Transvision screens from 8pm. In a media first audiences at the stations were given O2 headphones to enjoy the gig as a live-streamed silent disco.
Plan B performed at 8pm to an audience of 2,000 people at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and crowds at the live-streamed locations. For those not in London, the gig was hosted live on YouTube via O2 Academy TV. It was also available to watch across O2’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook and on www.o2.co.uk.
In an experiential campaign with JCDecauxLive, O2 4G Angels were at the two stations throughout the day, bringing to life brilliant entertainment on the move at a local level. Buskers were playing songs on demand at specially constructed O2 4G stages, responding to #O24G Twitter requests.
Central London O2 stores were celebrating the 4G launch throughout the day, with treats for customers and exclusive Plan B content broadcast in store. Selected stores were open late to coincide with the live gig.
Shadi Halliwell, O2’s Head of Brand commented: “We want to inspire customers by showcasing the exciting possibilities provided by 4G, and what better way to do this than by live streaming an exclusive gig across London. By bringing to life brilliant entertainment on the move, we hope to encourage customers to explore technology and to live more, do more and be more with O2.”
The Outdoor campaign with JCDecaux’s experiential division, JCDecauxLive, was planned and booked by ZenithOptimedia and Meridian.
