Aeroflot, Russia’s leading airline and Official Carrier of Manchester United Football Club, launched the first stage of their global ‘experiential’ campaign tour at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 1, giving Manchester United fans and travellers the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to see the Red Devils play at Old Trafford in 2014.
The installation features a replica Aeroflot plane made up of miniature size footballs on a plinth as well as a backdrop of Manchester United players Rio Ferdinand, Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa and turf to represent the field of play at Old Trafford. At Heathrow Terminal 1, Denis Law, the ex-Manchester United football star, spent a day at the zone meeting and greeting passengers and encouraged them join the competition.
Aeroflot is inviting travellers to visit the special installation and enter a competition in the hope of winning the all-expenses paid trip. Any visitors to the stand will also have the chance to find out about the thousands of destinations which Aeroflot fly to in 178 countries around the world, as a member of the SkyTeam global alliance.
The installation will also be present at airports in Frankfurt, Tokyo Narita, Shanghai and Beijing between November 2013 and January 2014.
Visitors to the stand are encouraged to share images of themselves in front of the replica plane via Twitter at @AeroflotManUtd and Facebook at facebook.com/AeroflotSport.
Manchester United and Aeroflot announced their partnership earlier in the year with the airline becoming the club’s ‘Official Carrier’, providing strategic advice on travel arrangements for the team, officials, and also providing charter services whenever suitable on its newest long-haul Airbus and Boeing aeroplanes which offer a state-of-the-art business class experience.
This campaign was planned and booked with JCDecaux Airport, JCDecaux OneWorld and Havas Sports and Entertainment.
