JCDecaux Completes Installation of London Scrolling Backlights

150th Scroller in place on the A41

JCDecaux has completed its planned London Scrolling Backlight roll-out with the installation of its 150th site, on the A41 / A1 road junction in North London.

The Scrolling Backlights have proved so popular with advertisers that the number of sites planned across London has been augmented to include a further 50. This further programme will be completed by the end of 2001.

Nationwide, there are now also 5 Scrolling Backlights in Manchester and 5 in Birmingham. This key conurbation Scroller installation programme will also continue throughout 2001, bringing Scroller quality to the UK's major cities.

Scrolling Backlights are the best way to increase the number of top-quality sites available for advertisers in the capital without increasing clutter or decreasing impact. Their installation is a key part of JCDecaux's 2001 investment into the outdoor medium.

Commenting on the success of the Scrolling Backlight installation programme, JCDecaux Marketing Director David McEvoy said: Last year we promised to install 150 Scrollers in London, and we have delivered on that promise. The installation programme has altered the face of outdoor advertising in London and we look forward to having the same effect across the rest of the UK.

JCDecaux is currently conducting research into the effectiveness of Scrolling Backlights and their advertising impact; the results of this will be available shortly.
